RARE EARTH ELEMENTS – Avalon Rare Metals Inc. March 3 provided an update on recent progress of its 2010 winter work program on the Nechalacho rare earth elements deposit at Thor Lake in Northwest Territories. Drilling began in January and a second drill rig was mobilized in February. This rig has started drilling on exploration targets on the southern extension of the deposit. The drilling is ongoing. Among highlights of the winter program, so far: First hole intersected 43.0 meters of high-grade REE mineralization in Basal Zone averaging 1.89 percent TREO with 27.2 percent HREO; and a prefeasibility study is advancing steadily and on track for spring 2010 completion.
