Drilling continues to expand Livengood project

International Tower Hill Mines Ltd. Aug. 17 reported results from the latest 22 drill holes of its 2010 summer exploration program at Livengood gold project in Interior Alaska. The 50,000-meter drill program is focused on converting resources to the measured and indicated categories through infill drilling, as well as step-out resource expansion and testing of “new deposit” exploration targets within the overall district.

The company reports that the Money Knob deposit at Livengood continues to expand at depth, as demonstrated by hole MK- RC-0373, which, starting at a depth of 353 meters, intersected 49 meters grading 1.9 of gold per metric ton. MK-RC-0376, also drilled at Sunshine, cut 15 meters at 1.2 g/t starting at a depth of 363 meters.

Step-out drilling has discovered gold mineralization in the Olive Zone, a new area of deposit expansion southeast of the Core Zone. MK-RC-0380, drilled at Olive, intersected 21 meters grading 1.7 g/t gold and 44 meters grading 1.3 g/t gold.

Tower Hill said the 2010 infill drilling program is a key component in the Livengood prefeasibility study, The primary goals of the program is to convert the bulk of the current estimated resource in the mine plan from the indicated and inferred categories to measured and indicated categories, respectively, better define the higher grade areas of the deposit and extend the deposit at depth.

The company anticipates that the results of this infill program will enable the current estimated indicated and inferred resources to be “upgraded” to the measured and indicated, respectively categories.

“These encouraging results continue to enhance the Livengood project and the opportunities continue to grow as our company evaluates multiple development options. Our development team is committed to optimizing this large and expanding gold deposit into the best project possible for the Company and advancing the project through to development and production as rapidly as possible,” said Tower Hill President and CEO Jeff Pontius.

Tower Hill is currently operating five drills at Livengood (three RC and two core rigs) and said it expects to add a sixth in the near future.
