NATURAL GAS – Wellgreen Platinum Ltd. Aug. 14 said it has entered into a partnership with Ferus Natural Gas Fuels Inc. that supports the delivery of liquefied natural gas to power Wellgreen’s platinum group metal-nickel-copper project in southwestern Yukon Territory. Ferus’ LNG facility in Elmworth, Alberta supplies clean alternative fuel for Western Canada's high horsepower and clean power sectors – including mining, rail, drilling, pressure pumping, trucking, marine, and remote power generation. Wellgreen said its agreement with Ferus would enable communities in the Yukon to benefit from this low-cost, low-emission LNG in place of diesel generators, strengthening the region’s economic and environmental vitality. Wellgreen Platinum President and CEO Greg Johnson said, “This clean energy project is a natural fit for Wellgreen and gives us a second source of cost-effective and clean energy that can meet the energy needs and timelines of the project. Our platinum group metals are used in catalytic converters to significantly reduce harmful vehicle emissions, and we are searching for ways to use clean energy to produce those metals. In addition to the environmental and economic benefits of LNG for our project, we see the potential for LNG to benefit our neighboring Yukon communities, many of whom currently rely on diesel for power generation.” Under a memorandum of understanding, Wellgreen and Ferus have agreed to work with other Yukon businesses, communities and First Nations to explore additional clean fuel opportunities, and will assess the need for an LNG plant in proximity to Wellgreen’s mine, which would reduce transport cost and make LNG even more readily available to other mining and power projects in the region. “Ferus NGF is committed to building the required LNG infrastructure across Canada and the United States to supply this proven alternative fuel for remote power generation and to high horsepower markets,” said Ferus CEO Dick Brown. “This innovative project with Wellgreen Platinum exemplifies how one company’s strategic vision to adopt LNG can result in economic and environmental benefits to an entire region including First Nations and other nearby communities.” Wellgreen has also entered into an MOU with General Electric Canada, a global leader in power and automation technology, to deliver a complete power generation and transmission network for the project.

GOLD – Victoria Gold Corp. Aug. 13 reported results of the final six holes of the 2014 phase 1 drill program at Olive, a zone adjacent to the Eagle Gold deposit at the company’s Dublin Gulch property. These final holes of the initial phase of 2014 drilling at Olive were predominantly exploration holes targeting the interpreted northeast extent of the mineralized Olive shear zone, approximately 350 meters from the first 14 holes of the Olive 2014 program. Five of the six holes cut gold mineralization including 89.6 meters of 1.18 grams per metric ton gold in hole DG14-600C and 23 meters of 1.43 g/t gold in DG14-597C. Victoria said the results confirm the continuity of mineralization within this corridor and add measurably to the size of the Olive Zone. Victoria President John McConnell said, “These final holes from the phase 1 2014 Olive drilling program underscore the success of the near surface Olive Zone mineralization model we developed and tested. Moreover, these final exploration holes were designed as large step-outs along the projected strike of the Olive shear zone and lead us to believe the Olive target may be larger than we originally anticipated.” Nearly 2,900 meters of a planned 5,000-meter phase-2 program has been completed. This work includes continued delineation drilling at Olive as well as exploration drilling along strike to the northeast and southwest of the phase 1 program.
