BP Amoco has named its Alaska leadership team — the team that will take over when BP Amoco’s acquisition of ARCO is complete. Six of the nine leadership positions will be held by BP employees, three by ARCO.
Richard Campbell remains regional president of BP Exploration (Alaska) Inc. Tim Holt of BP remains the business unit leader for the central North Slope, an area where BP Exploration (Alaska) and ARCO Alaska Inc. currently split operation of the Prudhoe Bay field.
Joe Leone of ARCO Alaska, now vice president Greater Kuparuk, will be business unit leader for the western North Slope — an area where ARCO has been the dominant operator with its Kuparuk River field. The Milne Point field is the only BP-operated field on the western side of the North Slope.
Ken Konrad, currently BP’s manager regional strategy, will be business unit leader eastern North Slope, an area where only BP has been an operator.
Ryan Lance, ARCO Alaska’s vice president western North Slope, will be the business unit leader at Alpine, a field which ARCO Alaska and Anadarko Petroleum are currently developing.
One of the business unit leaders is new to Alaska: Dave McManus, who will be business unit leader for gas, is coming to Alaska from a position as managing director of ARCO British.
BP Exploration (Alaska) employees in three areas will continue as business leaders in their areas once the acquisition is complete: F.X. O’Keefe of BP as exploration business unit leader, Anne Drinkwater as Alaska transportation business unit leader and Tom Blackwell as manager business resources.
BP Exploration (Alaska) spokeswoman Carla Beam told PNA that two BP Exploration (Alaska) business unit leaders are being reassigned elsewhere: David Blackwood, currently BP’s western North Slope business unit leader, will move to London to become BP Amoco’s technical vice president of projects. Octavio Pastrana, eastern North Slope business unit leader, will move to Venezuela as deputy business unit in that country.
Campbell has also named four other members of the management team in Alaska. All are BP Exploration (Alaska) employees. Three will have the same position in the new organization: Ross Klie, manager health, safety and environment; Sandy Beitel, director human resources; and Jim Palmer, vice president external affairs. Chris Phillips, who is manager of waste management, will be manager of shared services technical in the new organization.
