Joe Brenckle of the governor’s press office told Petroleum News that the governor named the Anchorage attorney to the public seat on the three-member commission Jan. 23.

Sarah Palin resigned from the public seat effective Jan. 20. Randy Ruedrich resigned from the petroleum engineer seat in November. The geologist seat is held by Dan Seamount.

Two commissioners are required for a quorum for commission business.
