Badami field restart in mid, not early September

BP has told Petroleum News that it anticipates restarting production from its North Slope Badami field in mid-September. Although paperwork filed with the Regulatory Commission of Alaska indicates a start date of Sept. 5, it will likely take until the middle of the month before field crews work their way through the complete list of field startup actions, BP spokesman Steve Rinehart told Petroleum News today, Aug.25.

That timeframe takes account of any glitches that may occur in the startup procedures ó there have been some weather-related delays and an issue with a stuck pig in the Badami pipeline, Rinehart.

Savant Alaska has been partnering with BP to do some new drilling at Badami and to bring the Badami field back on line. Savant anticipates bringing six wells into production, including a new horizontal well and a recently drilled exploration well, with initial total production projected at more than 4,000 barrels per day, Savant executive Greg Vigil has told Petroleum News.

Arctic Slope Regional Corp. is also partnering with BP and Savant in the effort to bring Badami back into production.
