Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin has appointed Steve Menard and reappointed John Binkley to the Alaska Railroad Corp. board of directors.
The seven-member board is responsible for managing and operating the state-owned private corporation that oversees the railroad and its assets. Menard, of Wasilla, served on the Wasilla City Council from 2005-08. He was appointed to finish out the remaining months of the term of his recently deceased father, Wasilla Mayor Curt Menard. Binkley, of Fairbanks, was chairman of the railroad board from 1995-2006, and again since 2007. He was reappointed to a seat representing Interior Alaska.
