Baker Hughes worldwide rig count down 247

Baker Hughes Inc. said Feb. 6 that the international rig count for January was 1,044, down 34 from 1,078 rigs in December and down nine from 1,053 rigs in January 2008.

The company said the international offshore rig count for January was 279, down 12 from 291 in December and down 12 from 291 in January 2008.

The U.S. rig count for January was 1,553, down 229 from 1,782 rigs in December and down 196 from 1,749 in January 2008. The Canadian rig count for January was 377, up 16 from 361 in December and down 117 from 494 in January 2008.

The worldwide rig count for January was 2,974, down 247 from 3,221 in December and down 322 from 3,296 in January 2008.
