Alaska Mental Health Trust Land Office has 49,041 acres leased

Mike Franger, senior resource manager with the Alaska Mental Health Trust Land Office, told PNA July 10 that the agency has 49,041 acres leased.
About 1,700 acres of that, Franger said, mostly in the Pioneer unit, were inherited from the state, and had been leased by the Division of Oil and Gas.
“We don’t have any producing leases yet,” he said.
Another oil and gas lease sale is planned for this fall, and Franger said the trust hopes to include some land on the Kenai Peninsula in that sale, along with tracts that have been previously offered on the west side of Cook Inlet and in the Matanuska-Susitna Borough.
