Aurora Power Resources receives Defense Logistics Agency award

Aurora Power Resources Inc. has been selected as the “New Contractor of the Year” by the Defense Logistics Agency.
The Defense Logistics Agency said the award recognizes a large or small business which is a first-time contractor for meeting the agency’s vendor excellence award criteria.
Aurora was one of 15 companies from around the country honored for various accomplishments Jan. 24 in Springfield, Va.
Aurora Power said it was competitively awarded a $44 million, three-year contract to supply natural gas to military installations and federal civilian agencies in Alaska in 1999. The company said this is the largest dollar-value contract ever awarded in the Defense Energy Support Center natural gas program.
Aurora supplies in excess of 5 billion cubic feet of natural gas per year to federal facilities in Southcentral Alaska, including Fort Richardson Army Base and Elmendorf Air Force Base.
