Oil Patch Bits: Nabors names new leader

Nabors Industries, the world’s largest land drilling contractor, has named Dennis Smith, 58, to oversee its Alaska operations. This includes Nabors Alaska Drilling, the largest drilling contractor in Alaska. Smith will oversee Nabors joint venture holdings with Cook Inlet Region Inc., specifically Peak Oilfield Services Co., Precision Power and Alaska Interstate Construction as well. Prior to joining Nabors in 1992, Smith lived in Anchorage for nearly 14 years where he served as chief executive of Pool Arctic Alaska, acquired by Nabors in 1999. In addition to his new role, Smith will continue as director of corporate development with Nabors Industries Ltd. based in Houston, and report to Gene Isenberg, chairman and CEO of Nabors Industries.
