Gas line meetings in both House, Senate

The House Republican Majority and the Senate Resources Committee started hosting presentations on the gas pipeline Jan. 30 when both groups heard from the administration.

Senate Resources Chair Charlie Huggins, R-Wasilla, said Jan. 29 that the committee would hear a gas line update from the administration Jan. 30. Backbone II of Alaska was scheduled to present Feb. 1 and BG Group Feb. 2. Senate Resources meets at 3:30 during the week; the Feb. 2 Saturday meeting will be at 11 a.m.

House Speaker John Harris, R-Valdez, said Jan. 25 that those scheduled at the open caucuses include ConocoPhillips, the Alaska Gasline Port Authority and TransCanada. He said others who submitted applications under the Alaska Gasline Inducement Act, including Sinopec ZPEB and AEnergia, would be invited and added to the schedule if they respond favorably.

All presentations will be at 6 p.m. in the House Finance Committee room: Feb. 7 TransCanada; Feb. 11 ConocoPhillips; and Feb. 13 the Alaska Gasline Port Authority.
