Energy claims 12% share of Canadian exports

Gross export revenues for Canadian energy producers fell 18 percent in 2002 to C$43 billion (US$30.5 billion), but still accounted for 12 percent of the country’s entire exports, the National Energy Board reported. Natural gas shipments to the United States totaled 3.52 trillion cubic feet. Of Canada’s total energy production. natural gas made up 40.2 per cent, petroleum 34.7 percent, coal 9.1 percent, hydroelectricity 7.5 percent, nuclear power 4.8 percent and renewables 3.8 percent.
