SeaRiver Maritime receives resource protection award

Petroleum News Alaska Staff

Exxon Mobil Corp. said July 17 that its U.S. marine transportation affiliate, SeaRiver Maritime Inc., has received a 2002 Legacy Award from the Pacific States/British Columbia Oil Spill Task Force, a cooperative government organization representing common interests shared by the states of Alaska, Oregon, Washington, Hawaii, California and the Canadian province of British Columbia for the protection of marine resources.

ExxonMobil said the Legacy Award recognizes individuals and organizations that successfully implement measures that go beyond regulatory requirements to prevent, prepare for, or respond to environmental incidents.

Paul Revere, president of SeaRiver, said, “SeaRiver is honored to be recognized by the Task Force. Similar to the significance of receiving the U.S. Coast Guard’s top award for environmental excellence last month, the Legacy Award provides testimony to our strong commitment to work cooperatively with regulatory officials, industry partners and the communities in which we operate.”

Revere said the awards are the result of “the daily contributions of our employees who are committed to safe transportation for our customers, the public and the environment. Their persistent efforts and commitment to safety and environmental excellence are truly deserving of this distinguished award.”
