ANGDA gearing up for applications
As part of its mission to progress Alaska’s interests in natural gas supplies from the North Slope, the Alaska Natural Gas Development Authority is looking to develop a general-purpose application package for the Alaska Gas Market System, a proposal for an in-state pipeline system for transporting gas from the North Slope to Valdez and the Cook Inlet region.
One possible use of the package would be to prepare a pipeline application under the Alaska Gas Inducement Act, ANGDA CEO Harold Heinze told Petroleum News on May 10. But the package would likely also be needed for other purposes, such as a Regulatory Commission of Alaska application or an application to bankers, Heinze said.
Heinze told the ANGDA board on May 9 that the authority is using the Mackenzie gas pipeline application as a model for the ANGDA application. The Mackenzie pipeline would transport natural gas from Canada’s Mackenzie River Delta.
“A great deal of (the Mackenzie application) is applicable to our situation, because of the pipe size, the terrain, the climate,” Heinze said. “A lot of that stuff is pretty consistent with our material.”
