Benson reappointed to ANGDA board
Gov. Sean Parnell has reappointed Don Benson of Palmer to the Alaska Natural Gas Development Authority. Benson, the vice chairman of the ANGDA board, was appointed by Gov. Palin in early 2008.
ANGDA was created by voter initiative to bring natural gas to market. Its duties include the acquisition and conditioning of natural gas; the design and construction of a pipeline system; the operation and maintenance of the pipeline system; the design, construction and operation of other facilities necessary for delivering the gas to market, including within the state; and the acquisition of natural gas market share sufficient to ensure the long-term feasibility of the pipeline system project.
The seven-member board is currently two members short.
Benson has been a project manager for New Horizons Telecom since 1994. He is a member of the Palmer Historic Society, president of the Valley Pioneers of Alaska, and an assistant scoutmaster and merit badge counselor for the Boy Scouts.
