Linc halfway to depth at Umiat No. 23H

Linc Energy Ltd. is about halfway to total depth at the Umiat No. 23H well.

The directional appraisal well at the Umiat oil field in the foothills of the Brooks Range Mountains had been cased and cemented at a measured depth of 1,980 feet and a total vertical depth of 1,260 feet, the Australian independent recently announced March 7.

Linc plans to drill the well to a measured depth of 3,500 feet before starting completion activities, which consist of “a slotted liner set in open hole with an electric submersible pump set in the horizontal section of the well,” mimicking previous successful flow tests.

CEO and Managing Director Peter Bond said he plans to travel to Alaska later in March “to ensure that I have a ‘ring-side seat’ as we progress 23H into a flowing oil well.”

The program is attempting to find a commercial method for developing the known oil resources at the field. The Umiat 23H will provide comparisons for earlier vertical wells.
