Malone named BP Amoco regional president

Alyeska Pipeline Service Co. President and CEO/COO Bob Malone has been named BP Amoco’s regional president, Western United States, Alyeska said June 14. The company said Malone will continue to be involved in Alaska issues in his new role.

Alyeska Senior Vice President Dan Hisey has been named chief operating officer and will serve as acting president and CEO until a new president is named.

A search for Malone’s replacement is under way, Alyeska said, and an announcement is expected shortly.

“Diane and I have enjoyed calling Alaska home and we will miss all the friends we have made over the years,” Malone said.

Malone has worked for seven years on pipeline-related issues including the last four years as president of Alyeska Pipeline. During his tenure, Alyeska said, Malone changed the relationship between the TAPS Owners Committee and Alyeska and established an open culture in which employees could bring concerns forward.

Malone serves on the University of Alaska Board of Regents, as a trustee for the Alaska Children’s Trust, as a director of the Alaska Oil and Gas Association and on the board of the Nature Conservancy of Alaska.

“We have appreciated Bob’s leadership and his unflagging commitment to the success of Alyeska and its employees, as well as the significant improvements that have been made during his tenure,” said Dick Rabinow, president of ExxonMobil Pipeline Co. and chair of the TAPS Owners Committee.

“Bob’s demonstrated leadership and his experience working in Alaska are important assets as he rejoins BP Amoco,” said Rodney Chase, group deputy CEO of BP Amoco. In his new position, Malone will be based in Los Angeles and report to Chase.

Alyeska said a search will begin immediately for Hisey’s replacement in the Valdez business unit. Hisey joined Alyeska Pipeline as an employee one year ago following 19 years with ARCO, 15 of which were in Alaska. During his tenure in Alaska, Hisey spent four years on loan to Alyeska working in pipeline operations.
