PETROLEUM DIRECTORY: Schlumberger gets contract for well database on British North Sea wells
Schlumberger Information Solutions has won a contract for management and development of a database on British North Sea oil and gas wells.
Common Data Access Ltd. made the contract award Jan. 11, according to the two entities. Over five years, Schlumberger will receive $9 million in the deal to manage the CDA Well DataStore, one of the largest collections of well information in the world.
CDA is a subsidiary of the UK Offshore Operators Association. Member companies will be able to use the Web workflows to boost performance and cost efficiencies in their North Sea operations
Schlumberger will use the latest generation of Seabed and DecisionPoint technologies for the service, providing secure access to the CDA DataStore via the Internet. The new service will be based at Schlumberger’s European service center in Aberdeen, Scotland.
The Offshore Operators Association, with 34 members and five associate members, comprises the oil and gas companies licensed by the United Kingdom government to explore for and produce hydrocarbons offshore around the British Isles.
