Conoco to spud Rondy well in February

ConocoPhillips recently received an Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission permit to drill the Rendezvous No. 3 exploration well at the Greater Mooses Tooth unit.

The company intends to spud the onshore well early in the second week of February, using the Doyon Arctic Fox rig, the company told Petroleum News. The well would be on federal lease AA-81784 in the National Petroleum Reserve-Alaska. The target of the well remains proprietary, but ConocoPhillips plans to core and test the well upon completion.

ConocoPhillips is planning two exploration wells in the NPR-A this winter, in addition to early engineering for a proposed NPR-A development. The second well is Flattop No. 1, which ConocoPhillips plans to spud after finishing its work at Rendezvous No. 3.
