AOGCC considering disposal changes

The Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission is considering several changes to the regulations over the annular disposal of drilling waste. The new regulations would codify the commission’s authority to regulate water wells associated with oil and gas drilling.

The proposed regulations would also change what information must be submitted with an annular disposal application, add a provision for requesting waivers and variances, and change the limitations and conditions that apply to annular disposal.

The AOGCC is accepting comments through 5 p.m. on June 21, but will also take comments at a hearing on the matter scheduled for July 8, from 9 a.m. to noon.
