Our Arctic Neighbors: Echoes of Palin in Finland’s new prime minister?

In one of her first statements to the press, Finland’s soon-to-be prime minister, Mari Kiviniemi, said she will invite Russian Premier Vladimir Putin to join her on a moose hunt.

On June 11, the 41-year old Kiviniemi won a vote in the Center Party’s congress and thus becomes new leader of the party, which is a senior partner in the Finnish government coalition, the Barents Observer reported.

In a few days she will take over the chair as Finnish prime minister from party colleague Matti Vanhanen.
