Palin makes seven energy appointments

Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin made several appointments of interest to the energy industry on Aug. 4.

Palin appointed Jodi Mitchell, James Posey, Brad Reeve and Chris Rose to a renewable energy advisory committee and Natural Resources Commissioner Tom Irwin to a renewable energy task force.

State lawmakers created the task force and the advisory committee earlier this year in a broad bill aimed at finding and developing renewable resources in Alaska, especially in rural areas. The bill called for appropriating $250 million over five years.

Mitchell is the chief executive of Inside Passage Electric Cooperative in Auke Bay; Posey is the general manager of Municipal Light and Power in Anchorage; Reeve is the general manager of Kotzebue Electric Association; and Rose is the executive director of the Renewable Energy Alaska Project.

Palin also reappointed Scott Heyworth and Dan Sullivan to the seven-member board of the Alaska Natural Gas Development Authority.
