State releasing more Slope seismic data

Petroleum News

Alaska’s Division of Oil and Gas has announced the release within 30 days the data from the Ikpikpuk 2-D seismic survey, conducted in the National Petroleum Reserve-Alaska, some distance south of Smith Bay. The data release comes as part of a program to make publicly available survey data obtained using financial assistance in the form of state tax credits. Companies making use of tax credits in support of exploration activities have had to file resulting exploration data with the division. The division makes seismic data obtained in this way publicly available after 10 years.

The division has to collate and organize the data, which then becomes available through the Division of Geological and Geophysical Surveys’ Geologic Materials Center.
