Bisson named adviser for Alaska affairs

Henri Bisson, former Alaska state director of the Bureau of Land Management, has been named acting senior advisor to the secretary of the Interior for Alaska affairs, replacing Drue Pearce, who was named by President Bush as federal coordinator for Alaska natural gas transportation projects last year.

“Henri Bisson’s breadth of experience, with both the BLM and Alaskan issues will be valuable in his role as advisor,” Secretary of the Interior Dirk Kempthorne said June 5.

Bisson has been deputy director of operations for BLM since November 2006 and was Alaska state director from 2002-06.

Bisson has been with BLM for more than 30 years in a variety of management positions in California, Arizona, Colorado and Alaska, as well as in the bureau’s Washington, D.C., offices.

He has a B.S. in forestry from the University of New Hampshire and an M.S. in watershed management from the University of Arizona.
