Oil Patch Bits: Gaines joins URS bringing 15 years of experience
Edmund “Ned” Gaines recently joined URS as a cultural heritage specialist/applied anthropologist with 15 years of experience in all aspects of cultural resource management and sociocultural impacts analysis. He specializes in archaeological survey, inventory and excavation, determination of significance, adverse impacts mitigation, human remains recovery, tribal consultation and traditional knowledge studies. Gaines has served as project director/principal investigator responsible for leading archaeological survey, excavation, lab analysis, technical report preparation, and consulting with various state and federal agencies. He has managed projects with budgets up to $1.2 million and supervised up to 32 field and lab personnel. His regulatory experience includes NEPA, ARPA, NAGPRA, NHPA and PRPA. Gaines also has experience in stakeholder engagement, paleontology, subsistence, database management, GPS, GIS, cartography, geomorphology, soil science and laboratory analyses. He has worked in multiple states and also has international experience with projects in Mexico and France.
