Corps opens new Anchorage field office

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is holding an informal open house April 10 from noon to 4 p.m. at its newly opened Anchorage field office at 1600 A St., Ste. 110.

The Anchorage field office, which is open to the public, manages all actions for the Corps’ regulatory program within the Municipality of Anchorage but will assist anyone seeking information about the Corps of Engineers. Services include permit applications, jurisdictional determinations (federally regulated waters and wetlands), permit evaluations, resolving violations and public outreach activities for construction work in waters and wetlands.

The Corps’ Alaska District headquarters are on Elmendorf Air Force Base and the field office was established to provide the public with convenient access and customer service. The 1600 A Street Building is at the intersection of 16th Avenue and A Street; Suite 110 is at the south end of the building. The office is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The phone number is 907-753-2619.

Harry “Hank” Baij, the field office supervisor, encouraged anyone seeking assistance to visit the office or call for an appointment. His phone number is 907-753-2784; his e-mail is [email protected].
