ISER launches on-line energy database
The University of Alaska Anchorage Institute of Social and Economic Research, known as ISER, has launched a new online database providing access to a variety of energy-related data for Alaska. Called the Alaska Energy Data Gateway and housed in the University of Alaska’s supercomputer center in Fairbanks, the database brings together through a single access point data from many sources, much of it tied back to individual Alaska communities. The initial release of the database includes information such as rural fuel costs and data about population and income levels across the state. ISER says that it hopes to add further information to the database in the future.
The database can be accessed at https://akenergygateway.alaska.edu/.
ISER says that some of the funding for the database came from the U.S. Department of Energy, with the Alaska Energy Authority providing some of the data. Several other organizations have contributed to the project.
