Senate Majority completes reorganization
The Alaska Legislature’s Senate Majority has completed its reorganization and named committee heads, the group said Nov. 19.
There are 15 members in the Senate Majority, representing urban and rural areas.
As previously announced, Charlie Huggins, R-Wasilla, has been named Senate president, John Coghill, R-North Pole, majority leader, Lesil McGuire, R-Anchorage, chair of the Rules Committee, and Kevin Meyer, R-Anchorage and Pete Kelly, R-Fairbanks, co-chairs of the Senate Finance Committee.
Newly named chairs of energy-related committees include Cathy Giessel, R-South Anchorage/Kenai Peninsula, chair of the Resources Committee; Click Bishop, R-Fairbanks, and Coghill, co-chairs of the In-State Energy Committee; and Peter Micciche, R-Soldotna, and Mike Dunleavy, R-Mat-Su, co-chairs of TAPS Throughput Decline.
Members of the Senate Finance Committee, in addition to co-chairs Meyer and Kelly, include Anna Fairclough, R-Anchorage/Eagle River, vice-chair; Dunleavy, Bishop and Donny Olson, D-Nome/Golovin.
