Fish and Wildlife sets two hearings

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service said June 9 that it will hold two public hearings to seek comments on the proposal to designate critical habitat for the polar bear and on the draft economic analysis of that proposed designation.

An Anchorage hearing will be June 15 at the Wilda Marsten Theater at the Z.J. Loussac Library. A Barrow hearing will be June 17 at the Inupiat Heritage Center.

Both hearings will be from 7-10 p.m., with a presentation followed by a question and answer period.

Public testimony will be taken and comments are requested in writing.

Comments will be accepted through July 6.
