Our Arctic Neighbors: Oil production up in Timan Pechora province
Naryanmarneftegaz, a joint venture in Russia owned by Lukoil and ConocoPhillips, increased its oil production by 27 percent in the first six months of 2008 compared with the same period last year. A total of 2.7 million barrels of oil was extracted from the company’s field in Timan Pechora province. The increase was due to new wells at the Perevoznoye oil field and from the startup of the Yuzhno-Khylchuyuskoye field in the Nenets Autonomous Okrug, the company said in a release Aug. 25.
