Mac review panel needs more time

CBC News reported June 14 that the Joint Review Panel for the Mackenzie Gas Project has requested more time to finalize its hearing schedule. The panel is investigating the environmental and socio-economic impacts of the project and says it wants to hear the interveners’ comments on a motion filed by the Sierra Club and the World Wildlife Fund that asked the panel to study all of the cumulative effects of gas development in the Mackenzie Valley, rather than just the impacts of the pipeline project.

Panel hearings are still in progress. Once completed, the panel will look at all of the information and the hearing transcripts before issuing a report.
