BP to expand Houston office for GOM growth

BP is moving forward with a three-phase expansion of its Houston office largely to support growth of its Gulf of Mexico assets, the company said in mid-September.

The expansion could support an extra 2,000 employees and contractors by 2010, the company said. Currently BP has approximately 6,000 employees and contractors working out of its Houston facilities.

“The Houston area represents a strategic hub for BP’s North America exploration and production segment and its gas, renewables, supply and trading segment,” said Bob Malone, chairman and president of BP America.
