Oil Patch Bits: UMIAQ announces Strand new civil engineer

UMIAQ LLC said May 29 that Laura W. Strand, P.E., has joined its Engineering Department as an associate civil engineer. Strand is a University of Alaska Anchorage graduate and a registered professional engineer in civil engineering. Her experience includes 17 years engineering oversight, environmental permitting coordination with public and regulatory agencies, leasing coordination, systems design, civil design, report preparation, specification writing, project scheduling, cost estimating and cost scheduling management.

Strand’s recent project experience includes the following projects: Nuiqsut Gas Pipeline and Gas Home Conversions, the Laura Madison Road Extension and Uivagsaaqiaq Road, the Point Hope Evacuation Road Extension and Repair in Point Hope, Alaska, and the new Kaktovik Airport in Kaktovik, Alaska. Her past experience also includes aviation design on Alaska Department of Transportation projects at Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport, Fairbanks International Airport and rural design projects such as St. Paul and St. George.
