Janis Wilson appointed to seat on RCA
Attorney Janis Wilson has been appointed to one of the five commission seats on the Regulatory Commission of Alaska by Gov. Frank Murkowski.
“Janis Wilson’s experience in the oil and gas pipeline arena will be critical to the RCA as we move toward realization of an Alaska gas pipeline project,” the governor said April 11. “Her in-depth knowledge of the RCA will provide a seamless transition, enabling the agency to continue to operate efficiently and effectively.”
Wilson, of Anchorage, is an attorney who has served as an administrative law judge for the RCA and its predecessor, the Alaska Public Utilities Commission, since 1981. She has extensive experience in oil and gas pipeline issues, both within Alaska and at the federal level, the governor’s office said.
Prior to her work with the APUC, Wilson was chairman of the Alaska Pipeline Commission, which regulated pipelines until its merger in 1981 with the APUC. She replaces James Strandberg. Her term expires March 1, 2012.
The appointment must be confirmed by the Legislature.
