State of Alaska, the world is watching
In this guest editorial Dave Harbour expands upon a brief opinion piece he recently prepared for the Anchorage Daily News. Harbour is a founder of Arctic Power, former chairman of the Anchorage Chamber of Commerce, the American Bald Eagle Foundation and the Alaska Council on Economic Education. He is the former public affairs director of the Arctic Gas consortium and a former government relations director for Atlantic Richfield Co. He has no financial ties to the oil industry and asked that Petroleum News stress he has written this piece as a private citizen of Alaska and not as a state employee.
The world watches Alaska and knows us through beautiful tourism and wild salmon television commercials. The world also watches as our Congressional delegation seeks ANWR approval. Citizens keep a wary eye on us as their natural gas prices rise, wondering how they will fare when our famous gas pipeli....
