Arctic Directory March 2016: Det-Tronics wins exida 2015 safety award

Det-Tronics announced that its FlexSight LS2000 line-of-sight infrared gas detector was recently selected by exida, a leader in functional safety and cybersecurity certification for the process industries, as a winner of its coveted annual safety award. Det-Tronics, the global leader in fire- and gas-safety systems, is a part of UTC Climate, Controls & Security, a unit of United Technologies Corp.

The FlexSight LS2000, released earlier this year, is a next-generation solution that sets a new standard for infrared line-of-sight gas detectors with improved optical field of view, an advanced housing design, simplified mount and breakthrough alignment tolerance. Designed to provide continuous monitoring of combustible hydrocarbon gas concentrations in a wide range, the technology was recognized for its safety features in exida’s fire and gas sensor category.

“The products and processes that were nominated for this year’s awards are all extremely innovative and exhibit exceptional work,” says Mike Medoff, exida senior safety engineer. “This made for a very tough selection process, however we feel as though the chosen products and process best exemplify innovation and have the ability to benefit and improve application of IEC 61508 or IEC 62443. Congratulations to this year’s award recipients.”

In recent years, Det-Tronics has developed several innovative, technically-advanced fire- and gas-safety solutions for hazardous and industrial applications, including the award-winning FlexSonic acoustic gas leak detector. For more information, visit www.det-tronics.com.
