Arctic Directory: SPE raises $32,500 at 30th annual BBQ Fundraiser

The Society of Petroleum Engineers held its 30th Annual Scholarship Fundraiser Nov. 7 at the Gateway Hall of the Alaska Zoo.

The Alaska Section of the SPE raised $32,500 for its scholarship fund at the event. The organization has awarded more than $370,000 in scholarships over the last 12 years.

The evening’s events included a raffle, with the grand prize of two roundtrip system-wide airline tickets won by Paul Chan; the second prize, $500 in cash, was won by Darrell Lantz; the third prize, $400 in cash, was won by Lisa Hodge; the fourth prize, a $300 gift card to REI, was won by Steve Gerlec; and the fifth prize, two roundtrip tickets to Seward, Alaska, 2013 season Alaska Railroad, was won by Ann Pilch.

Sponsors of the event include Polar Supply Co., Era Alaska, Proactive Diagnostic Solutions, Welltec, Schlumberger and the Alaska Railroad.
