Oil Patch Insider: Great Bear Petroleum on the move

Things are moving fast for Great Bear Petroleum, the company that has set its sights on drilling for oil directly in source rocks on Alaska’s North Slope. Ed Duncan, the company’s president and chief operating officer, and Karen Bryant Duncan, corporate general counsel and secretary, are in the process of moving to Alaska from Texas, having secured a contract on an Anchorage house, Karen Duncan told Petroleum News in a Feb. 11 e-mail. The company is also in the process of leasing office space in Anchorage, Karen Duncan said.

Karen Duncan said that she and Ed Duncan have received a warm welcome in Alaska.

“Our core alliances are falling into place and our work program is being implemented,” she said.

Great Bear Petroleum has launched a new website at www.greatbearpetro.com. According to the website, the company’s vision is to “be the leading unconventional resource player on the North Slope of Alaska, and one of the largest in North America.” The company’s core values consist of high standards of business ethics; high standards for health and safety; environmental stewardship; respect for the Native Alaska culture; and contributing to a sustainable future for Alaska and its people, the website says.
