Arctic Directory: URS announces Seagars as senior marine biologist

URS said June 20 that Dana Seagars recently joined URS as a senior marine mammal biologist with more than 38 years of experience in marine mammal studies and National Environmental Policy Act compliance. He was previously employed by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. Seagars received his B.S. and M.S. degrees in biology from San Diego State University and has been involved with marine mammal research and management in Alaska, California and Russia. A 25-year Alaska resident, he has participated in a wide range of marine mammal research and management projects including population assessment, contaminant studies, Section 7 consultations, incidental take regulations, Marine Mammal Protection Act permit reviews, as well as various Endangered Species Act issues. Seagars’ experience includes projects involving Steller sea lions, ice seals, walrus, and Cook Inlet beluga whales.
