Mining News: News Nuggets: Brazil confirms Whistler deposit resource

Brazil Resources Inc. Sept. 9 reported an updated NI 43-101-compliant mineral resource estimate for the Whistler deposit, one of several gold-copper porphyry deposits identified on its Whistler project in Alaska. According to the estimate prepared for Brazil Resources, the Whistler deposit hosts an indicated resource of 79.2 million metric tons averaging 0.51 grams per metric ton (1.28 million ounces) gold, 1.97 g/t (five million oz) silver and 0.17 percent (302 million pounds) copper, or 2.25 million gold-equivalent oz; and an inferred resource of 145.8 million metric tons grading 0.40 g/t (1.85 million oz) gold, 1.75 g/t (8.2 million oz) silver, 0.15 percent (467 million lbs.) copper, or 3.35 million gold-equivalent oz. Brazil Resources commissioned the updated estimate upon purchase of the Whistler property in July. “We are pleased to report this multimillion-ounce resource estimate for the Whistler deposit from a very small portion of our 170-square-kilometer, 100 percent-owned project,” said Brazil Resources CEO Garnet Dawson. “The Whistler deposit is one of several porphyry centers (Raintree West, Raintree East, Rainmaker and Island Mountain) identified on the property, and future exploration programs will focus on developing a better understanding of their size potential. The close proximity of the Raintree and Rainmaker mineralization to Whistler will substantially enhance the value of the ounces already identified at Whistler. The company continues to progress our long-term strategy and is reviewing projects in the Americas for potential acquisition during this low point in the commodity cycle.”
