NSIDC confirms Arctic sea-ice minimum
Third lowest Arctic sea-ice extent continues downward trend in ice cover; little ice more than five years old now thought remaining
The National Snow and Ice Data Center has confirmed that the 2010 Arctic sea-ice extent minimum occurred Sept. 19, a little later than the preliminary date of Sept. 10 that NSIDC scientists at first reported.
