Arctic Directory: Alaska Rubber announces addition of rigging department

Alaska Rubber said April 30 that it has completed the addition of its rigging shop and it is fully operational as of late October 2012.

In 2009 Alaska Rubber purchased and brought into its employee owned company Alaska Rubber and Rigging in Fairbanks. The two companies were significantly similar, however, Alaska Rubber and Rigging also ran a qualified rig shop, fabricating wire rope and chain slings to be used in lifting and rigging operations. Recognizing a need to support the rigging industry statewide, Alaska Rubber began making plans to expand its Anchorage facility in 2011 and by the end of 2012 had made significant investments in equipment, inventory and hiring three full-time employees to run its newly formed rigging shop. The new facility offers a test bed that can pull test up to 350,000 pounds and a press that can crimp wire rope up to an inch and a half.

All employees, including sales people involved in Alaska Rubber’s rigging shop, have received training through Industrial Training International. Alaska Rubber is also a member of the Association of Wire Rope Fabricators. Employee owned Alaska Rubber specializes in arctic grade hydraulic and industrial hose, hydraulic components and lifting and rigging supplies and carries a full line of domestic products from companies such as Wireco, Campbell and Columbus McKinnon.
