A. Surveying and Civil Engineering

A. Currently the Palmer-Wasilla Highway for ADOT, Drift River Oil Terminal for Hilcorp and supporting Repsol’s North Slope exploration program. In 2011 the Alaska Pipeline Project for ExxonMobil.

A. 65-75
Q. Describe the equipment your company uses and are there any new equipment purchases planned?
A. We own over 30 dual frequency GPS receivers half of which were purchased new in 2011. We purchased a Faro Focus laser scanner in 2011 and also have a Leica Scan Station 2 laser scanner. We are constantly purchasing new computers and updating our software suites for 3D computer aided design.
Q. Is your company expanding any of its operations or locations?
A. We are looking at opportunities to expand office locations.
Q. Is the company changing any of its services or products?
A. We are using laser scanning to capture data and make 3D models of piping and process facilities more and more often. We have used this technology on civil engineering projects and even to support the movie industry in Alaska.

A. Our competitive edge is experience, a wide variety of expertise, the capacity to perform and customer service.
Q. What new markets, clients or projects did your company attract in the last year?
A. Engineering projects have been picking back up recently. We have several new projects for the Municipality of Anchorage and Central Region ADOT. New surveying clients in 2012 include Hilcorp, Linc Energy and the U.S. Forest Service.
Q. What is the most challenging work/contract the company has undertaken?
A. Recently the most challenging project was the Alaska Pipeline Project for ExxonMobil in 2011. We had a short lead time to provide five full time survey crews across the state and a field office to support them.
Q. What are the biggest obstacles to completing work your company undertakes?
A. In engineering the biggest obstacle is getting timely reviews for permitting. In surveying it is usually logistical challenges.
Q. What do you see as your company’s biggest challenge in the next five years?
A. Finding and retaining quality employees.

A. 2013 marks our 64th year in business.

A. We enjoy strong employee retention in our both our surveying and engineering staff.

A. We have a strong safety program and excellent track record. We are continually working to improve.
