Denali focus on 2010 open season for Alaska gas pipeline

Petroleum News

The Aug. 16 edition of Petroleum News reported there was a possibility the open season for Denali’s North Slope gas pipeline would slip to early 2011, a date mentioned in an April 2008 press conference when Denali — The Alaska Gas Pipeline LLC, a joint project of North Slope producers BP and ConocoPhillips, was first announced.

Denali spokesman Dave MacDowell told Petroleum News in an Aug. 11 e-mail that the company’s focus remains on its 2010 open season.

He repeated that date in an Aug. 21 interview with Petroleum News.

When in 2010 will Denali hold its open season? MacDowell says Denali has not yet decided on an actual date, but he is definite that the company’s open season will be conducted in 2010.

An open season is when pipeline owners ask natural gas producers to commit to shipping their gas through a pipeline.
