Aurora Energy Services LLC, located in Seward, Alaska, is a subsidiary of Usibelli Coal Mine. Usibelli began exporting coal through Seward in 1985. The terminal is owned by the Alaska Railroad Corp., but operated by Aurora Energy Services.
The terminal employs 20 fulltime, year-round employees. Each ship that docks at the facility in Seward can hold between 50,000 metric tons and 75,000 metric tons of coal.

Seward General Manager After 25 years of running a successful employee-owned business in Wyoming, Hanson sold his controlling stock of the company to the employees in 2007 and moved to Alaska permanently. In January 2012 he was recruited to work for Usibelli by Rob Brown. He holds a certificate as an Alaska Certified Erosion & Sediment Control Lead and others from the universities of Wyoming and Alaska. Hanson and his wife of 31 years, Rhonda, have three daughters and four grandchildren.
