Arctic Directory: Solstice Advertising names Laing account supervisor

Solstice Advertising, an Anchorage-based full-service advertising agency, said April 15 that Ian Laing has joined the firm as its account supervisor and will use his strategic oversight to help turn ideas into measurable results.

Born and raised in Homer, Alaska, Laing went to college in New Hampshire, earning a bachelor’s degree in geology at Dartmouth. After college, he worked in the film industry, working in Seattle and New York on corporate videos and documentaries, including projects for PBS.

When Laing returned to the Last Frontier he became involved in politics, working for state House and Senate legislators. Most recently he served as a special assistant for the State of Alaska Commissioner of Revenue working on oil and gas-related policy initiatives.

Laing adds extensive organizational expertise and strategic management skills to the Solstice team. His favorite challenge is to turn the broad talk into a fine walk. When refining his advertising strategy, Laing loves any backcountry activity that provides a nice adrenaline rush such as skiing, mountain biking and trail running.
