Schlumberger said July 7 that it had landed two Offshore Technology Conference awards for its Schlumberger Subsea Surveillance subC-collar and subC-strip monitoring systems.
Initiated by the OTC board of directors in 2004, the spotlight on new technology awards recognize innovations that are leading the industry into the future. OTC selected this year’s 14 award winners based on five general criteria: originality, innovation, proven results, broad interest and significant impact.
The awards were presented May 4 at the annual Houston-based conference. The Subsea Surveillance group received an award for its innovative integrity-surveillance solutions. The subC-strip system provides continuous monitoring of lateral and upheaval buckling in long flowlines. The subC-collar system monitors production riser shape, strain, vibration, and fatigue, as well as temperature and pressure for flow assurance application.
“Deepwater and subsea production activity is set to continue to experience strong growth; however, the complex and high-risk environment of deepwater and subsea production calls for new approaches and superior technology to help maximize production and minimize risks,” said Lars Mangal, business manager for Schlumberger Subsea Surveillance. “Our subC-strip and subC-collar monitoring systems provide key integrity information.”
