ExxonMobil filed an appeal with the Alaska Superior Court on Dec. 22 challenging a Nov. 27 decision of former Commissioner of Natural Resources Mike Menge to terminate the Point Thomson unit.
Operator of the eastern North Slope unit, Exxon asked the court to either reverse Menge’s decision in its entirety or remand the matter to DNR Commissioner Marty Rutherford “with instructions to make a new and different decision.”
The company said other appeals would likely be filed by other Point Thomson working interest owners.
