The State of Alaska opened bids today for three areawide oil and gas lease sales — the Beaufort Sea, North Slope and North Slope Foothills — with apparent high bids totaling $14,240,330.73.
The bids were read this morning by Bill Barron, director of the Division of Oil and Gas.
The Foothills sale brought in the smallest amount, $961,920 bid on eight tracts by one company.
Twenty-six tracts received bids from five bidders or bidding groups in the Beaufort Sea sale, for a total of $1,781,235.20.
The North Slope areawide sale received the largest number of bids, 98, on 88 tracts, from 12 bidders or bidding groups, with total apparent high bids of $11,497,175.53.
The Bureau of Land Management opens bids this afternoon in its National Petroleum Reserve-Alaska lease sale.
